Decorating your college dorm room doesn't have to be a task you fear. Are you preparing to move into a dorm room? Are you searching for ways to make your room more homely and inviting? This is also the main place that you will be spending most of your time while in your room. Therefore, the comforter is one of the most important items you will purchase when decorating your college dorm room. You need a comforter that reflects your personality, but one that is easy to clean and very durable. Reversible comforters are very popular because you have two great designs in one.
Whatever color and design you choose will also set the stage for the rest of the dorm room décor. Add a few throw pillows and you have a great center attraction for your temporary home. Here is one piece of advice that you should consider. Make sure that you measure the length of your bed before you buy any bedding to ensure you buy the right size, as not all dorm room beds are the same length.
Your dorm room will also be your study area where you will be doing research and preparing for test. You will need a good sturdy table for your computer and place it in an area of the room that feels relaxing and comfortable. Buy a lamp that provides adequate lighting for studying as this is very important and gives you another opportunity to buy something that expresses your personality.
The next biggest decision of your dorm room decorating will be what to do with the walls. You don't want to do anything that is going to create a problem and that you will have to pay for later, so the first thing that you need to do is check the dorm rules to learn what you can and cannot do. Posters are the number one way to decorate your walls and they are inexpensive and easy to find. You can buy poster adhesive that will not chip paint or put holes in the walls, but still securely hold your posters up. You can also buy special hooks that will not damage the walls as well.
Buy frames to go around your posters to make them more attractive and unique. You can find these in a number of distinctive designs or be creative and make your own. Memo boards are a great way to display pictures of family, friends and anything else that catches your attention.
One thing that is well-known is the fact that dorm rooms are very short on storage space. That is why dorm room decorating includes finding decorative ways to add storage to your room. You can do this by purchasing plastic or wire storage bins that take up little space but that provide a lot of room. You can buy bed risers that will lift your bed higher to make more room for storage under your bed. Closet organizers can give you more room and look great as well.
Using the suggestion above will help you get starting making your dorm room the perfect sanctuary while you are attending college. Have fun and be creative and you will be amazed at the results that you can achieve.
